Do you accept insurance?
I am a private pay therapist, which means I do not accept insurance. I do not participate in insurance networks or communicate with insurance companies. The exception is that I do accept United Healthcare. This allows our work together to stay focused on you, rather than navigating the requirements of insurance.
Choosing not to work with insurance companies gives me the freedom to provide care that is more personal, flexible, and responsive to you—without the restrictions or required labels that insurance often demands.
This means our sessions can move at your pace, follow what feels most meaningful, and include unique approaches such as nature-based therapy and animal-assisted work—modalities that are not typically covered by insurance but can be deeply healing.
My focus is on creating a safe, compassionate space where you can slow down, explore, and grow—without outside restrictions shaping the process.
What form of payment do you accept?
To simplify the payment process, I require a credit card to be kept securely on file in Simple Practice (credit, debit and HAS/FSA cards) which will be automatically billed on the same day as your session. This ensures a seamless experience and allows us to focus on your therapy without the hassle of payment transactions.
Where are you located?
Sessions take place at 14195 Delwood Drive, Elbert, CO 80106. Please use the driveway to the left of the house, which wraps around to the back where there are parking spots available. I will meet you at your car to greet you and guide you to the session.
How do I know if I need therapy?
There’s no “right” threshold for deciding when to start therapy. Some people begin when life feels overwhelming, when anxiety, grief, or stress feel hard to manage alone. Others come because they want to grow, explore patterns, or deepen their connection with themselves and others.
Therapy isn’t just for addressing problems—it can also be a valuable resource for personal growth, self-awareness, and self-discovery. If you find yourself feeling stuck, weighed down, or simply longing for a safe place to breathe and be supported, therapy may be a good fit.
You don’t need to have everything figured out—or be in crisis—to benefit. Therapy is a space to bring whatever you’re carrying and discover new ways of moving through it with support, compassion, and tools that fit you.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
While I strongly encourage in-person sessions to fully experience the benefits of nature and animal-assisted therapy, I do offer virtual sessions when needed. These are a helpful option during bad weather, illness, or other circumstances that make coming in person difficult.
Virtual sessions allow us to stay connected and continue your work, though they may not provide the full therapeutic experience that in-person sessions in our natural setting can offer.
What is your weather policy?
The forest is typically 8–10 degrees cooler than the surrounding town, so please dress accordingly. In cases of inclement weather, I will notify you ahead of your session to discuss options. When temperatures drop below freezing, sessions will typically be moved indoors to ensure your comfort and safety.
What is your cancellation policy?
When you book a session with me, I reserve that specific time slot just for you and I’m counting on you to be there. Consistency is key for effective therapy, and frequent cancellations disrupts the treatment process.
Therefore, I have a 24 hour cancellation policy. You can cancel or reschedule (provided I have availability) an appointment if you provide at least 24 hours’ notice. If you cancel an appointment with less than 24hours’ notice, or fail to show up, you will be charged the full session fee. Exceptions are made for emergencies.
If you find that you are unable to commit to your appointment time, let’s talk about some good alternatives.
What can I expect in the first session?
Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and begin building a foundation of trust. We’ll talk through confidentiality and what it means for your privacy, give an overview of how the therapy process works, and explore some of your personal history so I can better understand your background and experiences. Together, we’ll also begin setting goals for therapy—collaboratively identifying what feels most important to you and where you’d like support.
This session is less about diving deep right away and more about creating a safe, comfortable space where you feel heard and understood.
What is a Good Faith Estimate?
A Good Faith Estimate (GFE) is a document that a healthcare provider gives to a patient, outlining the expected cost of services before they are provided. It is required by federal law to help patients avoid “surprise billing” and understand their potential financial responsibility.
Key points about a Good Faith Estimate:
· It’s an estimate: The final cost may vary
depending on the actual services
provided.
· Provides transparency: Lists the
anticipated charges for each service or
session.
· Patient protection: Helps you plan
financially and compare costs if
considering multiple providers.
· Required for self-pay patients: Especially
important if you do not use insurance.
Essentially, it’s a tool to give you clarity and peace of mind about the cost of care before your session begins.
